Velatte Supports iPlanet Application Server 6.5
Released 10 April 2002
Prophecy International has strengthened its partnership with Sun
Microsystems by announcing that its breakthrough Velatte solution
will support the iPlanet Application Server 6.5 from Sun Microsystems.
Prophecy Velatte, an application assembly tool for Java 2 Enterprise
Edition (J2EE) application servers, cuts software development costs
by creating Internet-enriched business applications in weeks instead
of months.
Announced at the JavaOne Developer Conference in San Francisco last
month, the combination brings together Velatte's strengths in Java-based
software development frameworks and component assembly technologies,
and Sun's strengths in the development, manufacturing and distribution
of computing network products worldwide.
Velatte is a Java-based rapid application assembly tool that enables
organizations to build Web-based pure Java business applications
without the need for specialist Java programming skills.
Bruce Lakin, CEO at Prophecy International and developer of Velatte,
said the announcement demonstrated Prophecy's commitment to its
partnership with Sun.
"We are committed to supporting Sun's iPlanet Application Server
6.5 and to provide our joint customers with a valuable solution
in the marketplace," he said.
Together, Prophecy International and Sun can help provide customers
with greater productivity, faster time-to-market and significant
reductions in cost when using Velatte with Sun's J2EE-compatible
iPlanet Application Server.
Combining Prophecy International and Sun solutions will significantly
expand the market for the creation, deployment and management of
J2EE applications."
"This announcement enables our mutual customers to improve
the way they create, manage, deploy and maintain their components
and business applications on the iPlanet Application Server,"
said Wes Wasson, vice president of iPlanet product marketing at
Sun.
"Prophecy's decision to team with Sun is a strong indication
of the momentum behind the iPlanet Application Server, a key component
of the Sun(tm) Open Net Environment (Sun ONE) for the development,
deployment, and management of J2EE applications and services on
demand."
